Description:
The Red cedar is a magnificent native rain forest tree, one of only a few native deciduous tree to Australia. It was brought to the brink of extinction due to logging of the Big Scrub rain forest in the early 1900's from the European settlers. This species of tree is a highly valuable and sort after timber because of its beautiful colour and resistance to rot. The timber can be found throughout numerous old parliamentary building in Australia.

These trees can reach a whopping 60m tall when grown under the right conditions. They are extremely fast growing on the north coast of NSW and 2 metres plus of annual growth is no uncommon in this local region. They still grow very fast everywhere else in Australia and are well suited to large gardens or properties.

The first flush of Spring growth is a vibrant red colour which is shortly followed by a gorgeous inflorescence of pink-white flowers which turn into a woody capsule of seeds that opens up when its going dormant into the Winter months.

All trees are approx. 60cm+ from the top of the pot

All these Cedars are grown in 90x90x150mm pots

Due to box limitations and to ensure safe shipment, all trees available for purchase at North Coast Jacarandas may be subject to pruning before delivery. This process encourages the formation of new buds, facilitating the successful establishment of your tree upon arrival.
